A Pandemic Filled With Amazing Feminist Entrepreneurs

One of the joys of writing has been the opportunity to meet amazing women, albeit virtually, during a dark time when it’s tough to meet anybody new. Hands down, the most interesting women I have met has been writing for LiisBeth (a publication focused on feminist entrepreneurship).

During the pandemic, I wrote four new stories for LiisBeth. The first story taught me about a movement of feminists helping women artists succeed (they are underrepresented and underpaid in the contemporary art world). Here is: State of the Art: Making Room and Income for Women in Art.

Next, I wrote a profile of a Jewish Priestess. I scheduled an hour interview with the priestess and we ended up speaking for more than three. I didn’t want to hang up. My story, The Apprenticeship of a Priestess, reminded me of how important it is to put energy (and time!) into what lights us up.

Another thing I was reminded of? How women have to work harder to get investor funding than men. Even when their business is devoted to making us healthier, fitter and happier it’s still a slog. FITIN’s Marathon to Investor Funding tells the story of one woman with the endurance to succeed.

And, last. My most recent story was about a woman working at the intersection of visual art and the blockchain. She is moving mountains in the metaverse including the launch of a new art gallery there. Here is the story, Hurtling Towards a Metaverse Future.

I hope you have met marvelous new women too!
