I know so many women in my demographic who either won’t disclose their age, or just outright lie. And, it’s no wonder. Society doesn’t exactly embrace the older woman (with few exceptions like French President Macron which I wrote about here). So, it was very exciting to learn about a new publication YOUAREUNLTD with its tagline: “It’s time for this conversation to come of age.”
It was even more exciting to write a story for YOUAREUNLTD about a young innovator who has invented a glove to alleviate tremors in people with Parkinson’s and Essential Tremors. The average age of Parkinson’s disease is 60, with 1 in 100 people affected (that’s 230 million worldwide). And, as I learned in the course of my research, it’s not only tough for sufferers to talk about their conditions, it’s not easy for their family and friends either. This is just one of the many conversations that needs to come of age! Read: Fits Like A Glove

Great article Sue, and such an inspiring story. My father had Parkinson’s and I remember the difficulty he had to feed himself.
Toward the end, it was no longer possible for him to do so. With this piece of innovation, sufferers can maintain their dignity and ability to do one of the most basic things we do as human beings.
So glad you shared the story,
xo

Thank you Eden! It was so interesting to learn about assistive devices that seem so simple in a way, but can drastically change the lives of people for the better. I was so impressed with these young innovators. Imagine, only 25-years-old but committed to applying their smarts to benefit people generations older. xo
