I am a management consultant and writer with a passion for making business relationships work better. Strong relationships spark collaboration, innovation and productivity—all essential for business results. Weaker relationships take their toll on focus, engagement and spirit—a drain on business success.
Some of the ways in which I help grow and sustain relationships within and across teams include:
My approach to consulting in this area is driven by the values that have guided my own relationships. I was in a successful business partnership for 14 years, and have been married for over 25! I write weekly about business or personal relationships, and my 150+ articles have been published in the Huffington Post, Business Insider, Apple News, Canadian HR Reporter, HR Professional, The Good Men Project, my blog, and several 0ther media.
My career spans more than two decades. I began consulting after doing strategic human resource planning in the public sector. I have worked at William M. Mercer Ltd. (a large global firm), and Infinity Consulting and N. Winter Consulting (two boutique firms). I was a partner at NVision Consulting Ltd. from 2000 to 2014 before launching The Relationship Deal—to focus on hashing out expectations in the messy world of work. Client engagements include the broader public sector (e.g., Ryerson University, Ontario Realty Corporation, Horizon Utilities); the private sector (e.g., The Toronto Star, Weston Bakeries, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts); and the not-for-profit sector (e.g., Canadian Cancer Society, Children’s Wish Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation).
I am active in the professional community, as a member of the national executive of the Strategic Capability Network and I also facilitate a regular executive round table on talent management. I have a graduate degree in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario, and am a Certified Management Consultant (CMC). My eclectic commitment to life-long learning includes courses in writing, French, and culinary arts.
